Earrings Too Expensive For The Young Crowd
The three close friends had been through all the shops looking at prom gowns. They tried on some. Some they loved but knew they were too low-cut for their parents to approve of. The ones that looked like they belonged on playboy models were not going to be accepted by parents.
They stood in front of the swarovski earrings and picked out what they liked. There was a green pair that were long with oblong emerald stones and white smaller stones at the level of the earlobe. Traci thought they would be perfect with one of the dresses she had tried on earlier.
Traci thought she had seen a woman wearing a pair just like it at a formal awards dinner earlier that month. They all were impressed by the lovely earrings. They decided white with gold tones would match just about any formal gown.
It would be better if they sold three earrings n each set, they guessed. Then if you lose one, you still have a pair to wear. They all knew they had lost more than a few earrings already in their lives.
Now they thought if they each bought identical pairs, they would each lose only one and could take an extra from one another to make a pair. They couldn’t lose more than one each. That left at least one matching pair.
They walked around the jewelry counter and stopped to view the rhodium earrings. Traci looked over her shoulder at the gorgeous swarovski desert glow pair of earrings she loved so much. If only she had a hundred dollars to spend on earrings.
Her dress would be all she could expect her mother to pay for this year. She would pay for shoes and a purse with baby sitting money. The earrings were way out of her budget this year.
Oh well, they sighed as they walked out of the store and over to the food court. They got sodas and sat at a table, watching the boys walk by. The conversation turned to the subject of how to get rid of acne. What teen girl doesn’t suffer angst over that.
They decided to stop worrying about pimples and bought a plate of nachos to share. Traci had a date with a football player for the prom. The other girls had been asked but had not decided yet who to go with. If they didn’t get an invite from a boy they liked, they would go with each other.
Many of their other friends did that cause prom was expensive. Also, it was a way to reject tradition. Just like dressing Goth or Emo, they were rejecting parental objections against the way they looked and acted. It has been the way of teenagers for decades.
