She Can Decorate With All New Things
Smoothing the quilt she remembered how hard it was to find exactly what she wanted. This pattern was the prettiest of all the king quilts she had looked at that afternoon. It was huge and she liked that.
She had gone through hundreds of quilt sets to find just the one she wanted. She loved emerald green and the print was modern and splashy. She knew she had good taste and this proved it. She had the matching set with four pillow shams and it was the exact color she wanted.
The shiny green leaves of the three philodendron plants were pretty against the cherry wood of the dresser. One large plant stood on the floor and two were on the sides of the dresser top with the leaves reflected back by the large mirror. Yes, I am doing a good job of decorating she thought.
A pair of gold color Tiffany lamps stood on the matching night tables. There was a wicker basket at the foot of the large sleigh bed. It covered up some of the carvings she loved so much. She went over and moved it into the closet. That was better.
That’s much better she thought as she ran her hand over the carvings of the footboard of the bed. The hardwood floors looked a little bare over in front of the chest of drawers. She walked across the room making a mental note to buy a medium-sized rug.
Opening each drawer, she started to put away her new lingerie. Black, plus some pale greens and pale blues with sheer material were piled neatly in the spaces. She had supplied herself lavishly from a leading lingerie shop at the mall.
Winning the lottery had sweetened her life more than she ever dreamed possible. Some would have complained about the tax burden, but there was so much money it hardly mattered. She could live off the interest for the rest of her life.
Walking over to her computer she opened a browser and took out her credit card. She entered a few bits of information and quickly donated to her two best loved charities. Tomorrow she would look for one more she decided.
The housekeeper came in and asked if she wanted to have a little lunch. She smiled and said yes, maybe a salad. It amused her to think that she paid her housekeeper twice the pay she herself had once earned. She felt generous towards everyone. She was on friendly, first name terms with the nice woman. She refused to be address by anything but her first name. She hated formality and did not want the woman to wear a uniform. She told her that tomorrow she planned to go out and buy a new dining room set.
